Emory at 4.5 Months

Here's a glimpse of Emory's favorite position...we're probably dooming ourselves to the repercussions of early walking, but it makes her smile.

I realized that Emory isn't so smiley in most of the pictures I posted. She's actually a really happy baby so I wanted to get in her pretty gums, and ALSO the mullet. All business in the front-all party in the back.

First Roll Over

This video shows the first official roll over. She actually did it twice in a row from front to back at 2.5 months, but we're pretty sure that was a fluke. She now seems to have a constant compulsion to roll over, but once she gets there she's furious. She doesn't know what to do with herself...and she is NOT interested in sleeping that way which makes for a fun nap time.

The Jumperoo and Daddy

Emory has been standing (with assistance) for a while now. She's not into be cradled. Oh no! That would belittle her. She likes to stand up and look around. She recently discovered jumping, too. So we got her a jumperoo. She loves it. And she's smiling and jumping as much as we will let her (she seems to stop smiling when we get the camera out). Notice that we had to build a little platform because she's not quite tall enough. :)

Meet the Stouts

The final leg of the trip was spent with Brent's sister Dana and her family in the Atlanta area. Emory certainly got a ton of attention here. Her cousin Coley probably would have held her for 3 days straight if she had the opportunity. She's going to be great with their new little boy baby on the way!We got it right with the swim diaper this time. It was Micah's so it was pretty big, but at least she got to play. And in case your wondering...she still looks like Daddy. See below.
Micah (2 1/2) is a blast. He and I had a great time playing ball in the backyard. He's actually not eating Emory's head, but going in for a big kiss.
We were given adorable shoes from Brent's aunt and uncle and Micah felt like it was very important for her to try them on right away. He's still working on dressing himself, so this was quite a feat.
We left on the 4th of July (see Aunt Leesa's outfit). Micah, Parker, and Coley were certainly sad, but I was shocked that Papa and Grandmama didn't try to squeeze in Emory's suitcase. It was a rough ride home, though. We had weather issues in Denver, after circling for a while we were diverted to CO Springs, sat on a runway, had to get of the plane and wait, and then fly practically over Aspen to avoid storms to get home to Denver. It was basically a 12 hour ride home. Emory did the best she could despite the fact that we lost our wipes and got down to one diaper. Needless to say, I'm glad we don't have any flights for a couple of months.
Grandmama threw Emory a party at their new cottage in Satilla, Georgia. The Sumner cousins and others came to visit and it was a great time.

Emory also got to visit the Hipps family in Carrollton, GA, where Justin is from and where Brent attended West Georgia Univ. We made a brief stop downtown to hang out with Dave Williams, and Emory officially became "Baby in a Bar" at a cute place called "Cork". Who knew Carrollton was so trendy and fun? Emory did great until the end where she practiced "finding her voice" with lots of screams. We had a great time with Justin's parents and their AMAZING southern cooking- think homemade fried chicken, farm fresh veggies, and homemade ice cream. We also got to meet Justin's incredible fiance Caroline who we adored- especially Emory. It takes a fun friend to drive a baby around on a golf course! But Caroline scored us a free cart and zoomed us around the back 9 safely.

Beach Trip

Next up came our Georgia trip. We started it at Amelia Island in Florida on the Atlantic coast. Grandmama, Papa, Kim, and cousin Hunter (16) joined us for this one. Emory got her first experience in a pool...which we were quickly kicked out of for not wearing a swim diaper. Oops. Brent and I went on one of our first dates since she's been born, also. It was great to see the beach!

Travel makes for bad blogging

Emory's been on the go! She made a couple of big trips in June- first to Houston, where Noni (Brenda) and the Petru girls threw her a "Sip and See". I need pictures if anyone has some...:) She was spoiled once again and given 15 outfits from Ashley, Trey, and Elicia Waggener. Between them, Noni, and Aunt Leesa she is quite the stylish baby. We also had a good visit with Aunt Leesa and Uncle Gary....which I need pictures of...:). Here she's wearing her ballet outfit that Katie Fay gave her. It's the cutest- with ballerina socks, too. She wore it to Paige Petru's adorable and funny recital.
