Snaggletooth

These are my attempts to get a picture of Emory's teeth today. She didn't start teething until she was 10 1/2 months, and now she has one full tooth, one 3/4's of a tooth, two 1/2 teeth, and one 1/4th tooth. They are pretty randomly placed. I think she looks a little like a granny with broken dentures.

I got her to keep her mouth open by singing to her- which she thinks is pretty funny. Catherine would agree with her.

Romeo, O' Romeo

Also in Irwin County, Georgia, if you're willing....people will give you their horse. Just like that. Papa and Grandmama have recently had two horses donated to them, with offers for more. Apparently, when "Horse People" hear that you are interested they just give them away. With supplies, even!

Romeo was looking for a good home, and Papa took him in. Hunter (my nephew picture below) will also be helping. Romeo is almost more like a dog. He loves to snuggle you. He's so sweet. Very stubborn, though. Papa's had to spend much time to get him to do a little trot here and there. And if he doesn't feel like going, he just won't budge. You know he must be sweet if I'm willing to post a picture of me looking this bad to show you how cute he is.

Honey and Money (a loaner for the weekend) are in front of the corral that Papa has built for them.

Honey was the second horse they acquired. A friend of the Coleys from church just hasn't been able to spend the time needed to ride her. I got to ride her every day. She was a little skittish and jumped at the most random things- bees, a plastic sack in the bushes, a metal water meter....but I jumped when I heard Hunter say, "Brent, do you see that gator trail?" We were riding in the farm paths across different properties, and apparently there are alligators in the area. A gator trail is a path in the mud leading the pond where a gator has slid. Yikes.

Who knew Papa was such a cowboy? I learned that he has rodeoed and trained many horses over the years. I'm so excited for his renewed hobby.

Papa on Honey. Coley (my niece) suggested he rename her Juliet. I suggested Lady MacBeth because she's sassy.

Trip to GA

Brent's parents celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in March, and Dana's family (of 6) and our family went down to Satilla, Georgia to celebrate. Brent's sister Kim lives down the road with Hunter (16) and her husband Don, so the whole crew was there.

It's the perfect spot for a grandchild. Papa and Grandmama have horses, all kinds of toys, and a golf cart for riding around the vineyards. We took daily rides to Kim's where we helped feed the chickens, goats, and ducks. The kids got to pick up eggs. And there were 4 baby goats born while we were there.

Grandmama holds the two newest baby cousins, Knox (4 months) and Emory (12 months).

I have no idea who this girls is, but she and Emory hung out during Hunter's baseball game and I didn't worry about Emory for hours. That's the kind of place Irwin County is....sweet, 6 year olds take care of your children for you.
P.S. Kim and Don have a great sense of humor, AND get to do many things that you don't get to do in the city. My favorite conversation of the trip went like this- Kim: "Don, What do you know about Aquanet?" Don: "I know if you send it through the end of a PVC pipe with a potato in it you get your eyebrows blown off! And it's months before my eyebrows grew back." This had to do with competition potato launching. I have no idea how we got on the subject of Aquanet, but I'm so glad we did. Oh, the things that you can learn if you pay attention.

March photos

This is a mixed bag of pictures. The first are from Banner's birthday party- which was the day after Emory's in Boulder. I took the girls for a ride in the wagon. Told their mom not to worry- we'd be right back, and then pulled them into a huge pole in the carport...in front of the whole party of adults. No one was injured.

Emory decided Dad is a great buddy on this last trip. They seemed to have a fun time. Here they are waving at us and eating strawberries.

I babysat Banner one day for a few hours. I was a little nervous about 2 in the same stage of life, but they really entertained each other. They took turns eating, and they napped at the same time. I felt like such a pro at the end of the day.

Oh, the bunny ears. It's great. Emory seems to really like costume items. She loves her sunglasses, some of her hats, and these bunny ears. She also likes for you to wear the items....so here's Brent in a flower lay. :)
